[ET Net News Agency, 11 January 2021] BOCOM International Research lifted its target
price for Sunny Optical (02382) to HK$220 from HK$185 and maintained its "buy" rating.
The research house said Sunny's HLS (Handset Lens Sets) shipment grew 2.5% YoY/1.3% MoM
in December, comparing favorably with Largan. BOCOM believes this was due to continued
softness in Android high-end.
Meanwhile, Sunny's HCM (Handset Camera Modules) shipment declined 24% YoY, as both
companies continued to be impacted by handset customers' shortage of key semis components
during the month.
Given (1) the gradual recovery in vehicle demand, (2) the strong growth outlook in EV
(usually equipped with ADAS and many cameras), and (3) more signs of autonomous driving
solutions about to be launched by vehicle OEMs in 2021 and beyond, BOCOM expects Sunny to
be a key beneficiary of these trends driving its VLS (Vehicle Lens Sets) and other
automotive component businesses (LiDAR). (KL)
