[ET Net News Agency, 16 December 2021] Air China Limited (00753) said in November 2021,
the group recorded year-on-year and month-on-month decreases in combined passenger traffic
(measured by revenue passenger kilometres (the RPK)). Passenger capacity (measured by
available seat kilometres (the ASK)) recorded a year-on-year decrease of 50.7% while
passenger traffic recorded a year-on-year decrease of 59.5%. Among which, for domestic
routes, passenger capacity decreased by 51.4% and passenger traffic decreased by 60.0%, as
compared to the same period last year. For international routes, passenger capacity
decreased by 36.7% and passenger traffic decreased by 40.9%, as compared to the same
period last year. For regional routes, passenger capacity decreased by 33.3% and passenger
traffic decreased by 48.8%, as compared to the same period last year. The overall
passenger load factor was 59.2%, representing a year-on-year decrease of 12.9 percentage
points. Among which, the passenger load factor for domestic routes decreased by 12.9
percentage points, the passenger load factor for international routes decreased by 2.8
percentage points and the passenger load factor for regional routes decreased by 11.1
percentage points, as compared to the same period last year.
In terms of cargo operations, cargo capacity (measured by available freight tonne
kilometres (the AFTK)) decreased by 20.6% year on year. Cargo and mail traffic (measured
by revenue freight tonne kilometres (the RFTK)) decreased by 5.1% year on year, and the
volume of cargo and mail carried decreased by 21.8% as compared to the same period last
year. The cargo load factor was 43.5%, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.1
