[ET Net News Agency, 17 January 2022] Air China Limited (00753) said in December 2021,
the group recorded a year-on-year decrease and a month-on-month increase in combined
passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometres (the RPK)). Passenger capacity
(measured by available seat kilometres (the ASK)) recorded a year-on-year decrease of
33.3% and a month-on-month increase of 30.8%. Passenger traffic recorded a year-on-year
decrease of 37.4% and a month-on-month increase of 40.1%. Among which, for domestic
routes, passenger capacity decreased by 33.8% year on year and increased by 31.9% month on
month, and passenger traffic decreased by 37.8% year on year and increased by 40.4% month
on month. For international routes, passenger capacity decreased by 36.9% and 13.4% as
compared to the same period last year and the previous month, respectively, and passenger
traffic decreased by 36.6% and 4.1% as compared to the same period last year and the
previous month, respectively. For regional routes, passenger capacity increased by 18.2%
and 94.0% as compared to the same period last year and the previous month, respectively,
and passenger traffic recorded a decrease of 0.5% year on year and an increase of 145.1%
month on month.
The overall passenger load factor was 63.5%, representing a decrease of 4.1 percentage
points as compared to the same period last year and an increase of 4.2 percentage points
as compared to the previous month. Among which, the passenger load factor for domestic
routes decreased by 4.1 percentage points year on year and increased by 3.9 percentage
points month on month, the passenger load factor for international routes increased by 0.2
percentage points and 4.2 percentage points as compared to the same period last year and
the previous month, respectively, and the passenger load factor for regional routes
decreased by 8.7 percentage points year on year and increased by 9.6 percentage points
month on month.
In terms of cargo operations, cargo capacity (measured by available freight tonne
kilometres (the AFTK)) increased by 4.4% year on year, and cargo and mail traffic
(measured by revenue freight tonne kilometres (the RFTK)) increased by 9.3% year on year.
The cargo load factor was 38.9%, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.7 percentage
