[ET Net News Agency, 19 April 2022] Air China Limited (00753) said in March 2022, the
group recorded a year-on-year and a month-on-month decrease in combined passenger traffic
(measured by revenue passenger kilometres (the RPK)). Passenger capacity (measured by
available seat kilometres (the ASK)) recorded a year-on-year decrease of 63.3% and a
month-on-month decrease of 44.6%. Passenger traffic recorded a year-on-year decrease of
70.1% and a month-on-month decrease of 49.2%. Among which, for domestic routes, passenger
capacity decreased by 64.7% year on year and decreased by 45.5% month on month, and
passenger traffic decreased by 70.7% year on year and decreased by 49.8% month on month.
For international routes, passenger capacity decreased by 20.4% and 20.6% as compared to
the same period last year and the previous month, respectively, and passenger traffic
decreased by 41.2% and increased by 20.1% as compared to the same period last year and the
previous month, respectively. For regional routes, passenger capacity decreased by 36.1%
and decreased by 41.8% as compared to the same period last year and the previous month,
respectively, and passenger traffic recorded a decrease of 48.3% year on year and a
decrease of 57.2% month on month. The overall passenger load factor was 59.1%,
representing a decrease of 13.4 percentage points as compared to the same period last year
and a decrease of 5.3 percentage points as compared to the previous month. Among which,
the passenger load factor for domestic routes decreased by 12.4 percentage points year on
year and decreased by 5.2 percentage points month on month, the passenger load factor for
international routes decreased by 10.7 percentage points and increased by 10.2 percentage
points as compared to the same period last year and the previous month, respectively, and
the passenger load factor for regional routes decreased by 9.5 percentage points year on
year and decreased by 14.5 percentage points month on month.
In terms of cargo operations, cargo capacity (measured by available freight tonne
kilometres (the AFTK)) decreased by 8.5% year on year and increased by 13.5% month on
month. Cargo and mail traffic (measured by revenue freight tonne kilometres (the RFTK))
increased by 3.3% year on year and increased by 45.2% month on month. The cargo load
factor was 41.5%, representing a year-on-year increase of 4.8 percentage points and a
month-on-month increase of 9.0 percentage points. (RC)
