[ET Net News Agency, 5 February 2018] Citi Research lifted its target price for Want
Want China (00151) to HK$8.28 from HK$7.44, and maintained its "buy" rating.
Given its stabilized top line in 4Q CY2017 to January, the research house expects Want
Want to implement like-for-like ASP hikes in some categories after the 2018 CNY period.
On Citi's Consumer Corporate Day (16 January), management indicated that the company
does not rule out the possibility of an ASP hike in 2018, if commodity prices continue to
rise.
The research house believes the market has under-appreciated Want Want's pricing power,
which may lead to upside surprise to its ASP and margins. Citi's current ASP assumption
only reflects its expected sales mix trade-up and has not factored in like-for-like ASP
hikes in 2018. (KL)
