[ET Net News Agency, 17 August 2018] WH Group (00288) said it has noted the press
articles about the temporary closure of a slaughtering factory of its non-wholly owned
subsidiary Zhengzhou Shuanghui Food Co., Ltd. (Zhengzhou Shuanghui) in Zhengzhou, Henan
Province, the PRC in light of live hogs infected with African swine fever. The company
said Zhengzhou Shuanghui received a blockade order from the People's Government of
Zhengzhou Municipality, pursuant to which, the Zhengzhou slaughtering factory was required
to be temporarily closed down for a period of six weeks starting from 16 August.
Zhengzhou Shuanghui has taken active steps to prevent further spread of the swine
disease including, among other things, setting up of a specialized body, euthanizing all
live hogs at the Zhengzhou slaughtering factory and temporarily closing down the Zhengzhou
slaughtering factory.
The company is not aware of any detection of African swine fever or other epidemic swine
disease at other slaughtering factories of the group. The board is of the view that the
temporary closure of the Zhengzhou slaughtering factory will not have any material adverse
impact on the operation and the financial position of the group. (SC)
