[ET Net News Agency, 15 October 2018] Air China (00753) said it maintained growth in
combined passenger traffic, measured by revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), in September,
as compared to the same period last year but recorded a decline compared to the same
period last month.
Passenger capacity, measured by available seat kilometers (ASK), and passenger traffic
recorded a year-on-year increase of 6.3% and 6.9% respectively.
For domestic routes, passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 3.3% and
4.3%, respectively, as compared to the same period last year.
For international routes, passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 11.7%
and 11.7%, respectively, as compared to the same period last year.
Passenger capacity on regional routes decreased by 1.3%, and passenger traffic recorded
an increase of 1.6%, as compared to the same period last year.
The overall passenger load factor was 80.3%, representing an increase of 0.5 percentage
points as compared to the same period last year.
The passenger load factor for domestic and regional routes increased by 0.8 and 2.3
percentage points respectively, and that for international routes leveled off.
Its cargo and mail traffic, measured by revenue freight tonne kilometers (RFTK),
maintained growth in September, as compared to the same period last year and last month.
Freight tonnage carried recorded a slight decrease on a year-on-year basis and an increase
on a month-on-month basis.
Cargo capacity, measured by available freight tonne kilometers (AFTK), increased by 2.4%
year-on-year. Cargo and mail traffic increased by 2.8% and the volume of cargo and mail
carried decreased by 0.4% as compared to the same period last year.
The cargo load factor was 58.3% in September 2018, representing a year-on-year increase
of 0.2 percentage point. (KL)
