[ET Net News Agency, 24 September 2018] AAC Technologies Holdings (02018) announced
that it would increase investment in Tampere, the second largest city in Finland. ACC
planned to invest US$20 million in its optics R&D center in Tampere in the next three
years and recruit more local high-tech R&D talent to expand the R&D staff there to a 100
strong, aiming to build an high-end optics R&D center that boasts global influence.
The investment was a result of the visit to Tampere by a delegation from Nanshan
District, Shenzhen, China, with Wang Qiang, the Secretary of Nanshan District Party
Committee. Lauri Lyly, the Mayor of Tampere, has welcomed and highly commended AAC
Technologies for setting up its R&D center in the city.
AAC Technologies has R&D centers operating in 15 cities worldwide, including Silicon
Valley in the US, Osaka in Japan and Singapore, supported by more than 4,300 R&D
professionals.
The Optics R&D center in Tampere focuses on testing of optical products, including image
processing, sensor and lens design. It has a very important position in the future
development plans of AAC Technologies, and will become a key R&D center of imaging
solutions.
Benefitting from the nine years' hard work by the optics R&D team, including the team at
the Tampere R&D center, and total continuous investment of close to US$700 million in
optics, AAC Technologies is currently the only company in the world to have mastered the
technology for mass production of wafer-level glass optical lens.
ACC sees strong upgrade roadmap for its wafer-level glass hybrid lens solutions in
delivering outstanding optical performance. The Company aims to become a key player in the
