[I-bank focus]Daiwa trims China Unicom (00762) to HK$13.8

[ET Net News Agency, 30 October 2017] Daiwa Research trimmed its target price for China
Unicom (00762) to HK$13.8 from HK$14.1, and maintained its "buy" rating.
The research house said China Unicom's 3Q results suggest that its mobile business is on
the cusp of a turnaround, driven by sharp acceleration in mobile data usage levels among
its customers.
Daiwa said China Unicom's 3Q service revenue growth lagged its peers, but this was
largely expected by the market given the loss of momentum in its core mobile business
since 2014.
However the sharp acceleration in its mobile service revenue suggests that its
management turnaround strategy centred on driving data usage in cooperation with internet
companies is beginning to pay off. (KL)
