[ET Net News Agency, 5 July 2019] On 3 July, the NDRC announced official regulation on
city gas connection fees whereby total return for gas connection is capped at 10% with all
costs considered.
HSBC Global Research said the official policy is in line with its expectations and
feedback from China Gas Association during HSBC's investor trip in May.
The research house believes this policy announcement is beneficial for major HK-listed
gas utilities, as the risk overhang on regulatory uncertainty over gas connections is
removed.
HSBC said ENN Energy (02688) is its preferred pick in the sector for its quality volume
growth and diversification into integrated energy. It still likes Beijing Enterprises
Holdings (00392) for its defensiveness and volume story in Beijing. (KL)
