HSI ends down 83 pts at 23,320 midday; turnover at HK$25.6bn

    HK stocks closed lower on Thursday morning session following the decline of the US markets, with the benchmark index recovering certain losses after the HSBC Flash China PMI hit a three-month high at 50.4 in October.
  The Hang Seng Index ended down 83 points to 23,320. The H-share index rose 3 points to 10,430. Half-day turnover reduced to HK$25.6bn from HK$31.7bn on Wednesday.
  Market heavyweights were mixed. China Mobile (00941) dipped 1.26% to HK$89.85, while HSBC (00005) nudged up 0.17% to HK$77.75.
  Shimao (00813) and Mingfa (00846) put on 1.91% and 3.43% to HK$16.04 and HK$2.11 after they won the tender for a Tung Chung hotel site at HK$1.83bn.
  China Unicom (00762) slid 2.83% to HK$11, making itself the largest blue-chip loser, before its quarterly results to be released today.
