HK stocks closed briefly higher on Tuesday morning session with the benchmark index paring most of its gains after opening up 314 points in tandem with global markets.
The Hang Seng Index ended up 27 points to 21,881. The H-share index rose 67 points to 9,951. Half-day turnover reduced to HK$44.65 billion from HK$46 billion on Monday.
Market heavyweights were virtually unchanged. China Mobile (00941) edged up 0.21% to HK$94.9, while HSBC (00005) was flat at HK$60.65.
Macau gaming stocks extended yesterday's rally as analysts are optimistic about the sector. Sands China (01928) soared 7.03% to HK$27.4 while Galaxy Ent (00027) put on 4.38% to HK$23.85, making themselves the top and second-top blue-chip gainer by midday. SJM Holdings (00880) gained 4.75% to HK$6.17 and Wynn Macau (01128) picked up 6.2% to HK$10.28.
