HK stocks closed higher on Wednesday morning session after the Dow clung to gains overnight, with the benchmark index extending early gains.
The Hang Seng Index ended up 240 points to 22,071. The H-share index rose 257 points to 10,189. Half-day turnover increased to HK$47.8 billion from HK$44.65 billion on Tuesday.
Market heavyweights were mixed. China Mobile (00941) edged down 0.91% to HK$92.65, while HSBC (00005) rose 0.83% to HK$61.05.
Oil majors rallied on oil price jump. CNOOC (00883) soared 9.08% to HK$9.13 while PetroChina (00857) put on 7.12% to HK$6.17, making themselves the top and second-top blue-chip gainer by midday. Sinopec (00386) gained 5.07% to HK$5.39.
Macau gaming stocks pared gains after yesterday's rally. Sands China (01928) slid 1.62% to HK$27.35 and MGM China (02282) dipped 0.9% to HK$9.9. Galaxy Ent (00027) rose 1.26% to HK$24.05. Wynn Macau (01128) edged up 0.38% to HK$10.44 and SJM Holdings (00880) increased 0.49% to HK$6.15.
