SmarTone Telecommunications (00315) said its profit attributable to equity holders for the year ended 30 June 2016 dropped 14.8% year-on-year to HK$797 million.
Basic and diluted earnings per share were HK74.9 cents and HK74.8 cents.
Group total revenue declined by 2% to HK$18,356 million. Service revenue decreased 2% on the previous year, driven largely by the continued migration to SIM-only plans and the decline in roaming and prepaid revenue.
Group service EBIT increased 18% to HK$1,014 million, reflecting the 4 percentage point improvement in margins in the core service business. EBITDA fell 9% to HK$2,661 million
In the year under review, Hong Kong customer number increased 1% to 1.97 million and average postpaid churn remained unchanged at 0.9%. Mobile postpaid ARPU rose to HK$301, registering a 2% growth while local mobile postpaid ARPU rose 4%.
The proposed final dividend is HK33 cents (2015: HK33 cents) per share, payable on or about 16 December 2016.
