HSI ends down 14 pts at 24,042; turnover at HK$61bn

   HK stocks closed virtually changed on Friday despite a 174-point rally of the Dow overnight. The benchmark index opened up 87 points at 24,143. Buying of Tencent (00700) and AAC Technologies (02018) brought the stocks to record highs, and pushed the index briefly up by 133 points to an intra-day high of 24,190. It then gave up all its gains as profit taking kicked in.
  The Hang Seng Index ended down 14 points or 0.06% to 24,042. The H-share index fell 6 points or 0.06% to 10,050. Turnover decreased to HK$61.1 billion from HK$67.7 billion on Thursday. 
  Sixteen stocks rose among the 50 blue chips, and 31 fell, with two stocks remaining steady. 
  The northbound quota balance of the "Shanghai-HK Connect" program was RMB12.919 billion, accounting for 99.4% of the daily allowed quota of RMB13 billion. The southbound quota balance was RMB8.716 billion, accounting for 83% of the daily allowed quota of RMB10.5 billion.
  As for the Shenzhen-HK Connect, the northbound quota balance was RMB12.35 billion, accounting for 95% of the daily allowed quota of RMB13 billion. The southbound quota balance was RMB10.099 billion, accounting for 96.2% of the daily allowed quota of RMB10.5 billion.
  NASDAQ hit fresh closing high overnight, boosting internet and technology counters. Tencent edged down 0.1% to HK$236.4 after hitting all-time high of HK$239.6. AAC Technologies gained 3.6% to HK$106 after hitting all-time high of HK$107.5.
  Geely Automobile (00175) retreated 0.7% to HK$11.56 after days of rally.
  China Mobile (00941) softened 0.4% to HK$83.85 as research houses are less sanguine on the stock post its quarterly earnings report. China Unicom (00762) dipped 1.7% to HK$10.2 ahead of its earnings report later today. China Telecom (00728) fell 0.8% to HK$3.81.
  i-CABLE Communications (01097) saw tumultuous moves after the company announced rights issue and introduction of new shareholder. It had dived 24.6% at one stage and plunged to an intra-day low of HK$0.46 before ending the midday at HK$0.71, up 16.4%.
