HK stocks closed lower on Monday morning session despite the record high of the Dow on Friday. The Hang Seng Index opened up 70 points to 28,557, which marked the intra-day high. It then moved lower, and fell 233 points to an intra-day low of 28,253, thanks to the decline of AIA (01299).
The Hang Seng Index ended down 191 points or 0.7% to 28,295. The H-share index fell 71 points or 0.6% to 11,486. Half-day turnover increased slightly to HK$54.23 billion from HK$50.8 billion on Friday.
China Life (02628) rose 3.5% to HK$25.45 after the insurer said its 9-month net profit may have increased by 95%. Ping An (02318) also edged up 0.2% to HK$67.25.
AIA (01299) slid 2.2% to HK$58.85 becoming the worst blue-chip performer as the company reported its value of new business grew 20%, falling short of market expectations.
China Mobile (00941) softened 0.5% to HK$78.9. CICC downgraded its target price after the telecom giant reported 9-month profit increased 4.6% to RMB92.1 billion. Huawei reported that its 9-month handset shipment volume increased 19%, pushing up Q Technology (01478) by 9.5% to HK$17.02.
Tencent (00700) is scheduled to hold IPO luncheon for its spin-off Tencent Literature in afternoon. The internet giant edged down 0.2% to HK$349.
