The Hong Kong Monetary Authority said today the composite interest rate, which is a measure of the average cost of funds of banks, increased by 20 basis points to 0.5% at the end of October 2017, from 0.3% at the end of September 2017.
The rise in the composite interest rate reflected an increase in the weighted funding cost for short-term deposits as a result of IPO straddling the month end.
