HK stocks closed firmer on Friday morning session following the softer close of the US equity markets overnight. The Hang Seng Index opened up 20 points to 32,142. It briefly rose 82 points to an intra-day high of 32,203.
The Hang Seng Index ended up 32 points or 0.1% to 32,154. The H-share index rose 47 points or 0.4% to 13,142. Half-day turnover decreased to HK$93.5 billion from HK$115.8 billion on Thursday.
Sunny Optical (02382) soared 5.4% to HK$113.1 after the company proposed the reduction of board lot size from 1,000 shares to 100. Tencent (00700) edged up 0.7% to HK$451. It was the best performing blue chip.
Mainland developers soared across the board. China Resources Land (01109) surged 6.6% to HK$28.1. Country Garden (02007) jumped 3.6% to HK$7.12. China Overseas Land & Investment (00688) shot up 3.9% to HK$29.3.
Some Chinese lenders were higher on investment banks' bullish comments. CM Bank (03968) put on 1.9% to HK$36.8. BOC (03988) rose 0.7% to HK$4.44. CCB (00939) edged up 0.1% to HK$8.43. ICBC (01398) slipped 0.3% to HK$7.14.
Market heavyweights were weaker. HSBC (00005) dipped 0.4% to HK$85.1. China Life (02628) slid 1.3% to HK$25.85. AIA (01299) fell 0.7% to HK$66.
