A: David

B: John

 

A: Oh, John. I've been meaning to ask if there's a time we can talk? 

John，我一直想問你是否有時間可以讓我們談下？

 

B: Why don't you come to my office now？*Better yet這樣好了, give me five minutes, OK? 

何不現在就到我辦公室？這樣好了，給我五分鐘好嗎？

 

A: Sure. Thanks for your time. This might be *out of left field意料之外; 唐突, but l'd like to ask the company for a raise.

沒問題。謝謝你抽出時間，這可能有點突然，但我想跟公司要求加薪。

 

B: l see. What are your expectations, based on your performance?

 

這樣啊……根據你的表現，你的期望是甚麼？

 

A: I'm the go-to person for difficult questions, like resolving those huge errors in transaction history that almost crashed the network.

我是大家遇到困難問題時的求助對象，像是解決那些交易歷史紀錄裡差點癱瘓網路的重大錯誤

 

B: Go on. 

繼續說。

 

A: And I think I've proven my leadership and interpersonal skills. I'd like to ask for a $26,000 to $28,000 increase.

而且我認為我證明了自己的領導能力與人際關係技能。我想要求加薪$26,000到$28,000。

 

B: You've definitely applied yourself, and the company’s bottom line is much better now. I will get back to you tomorrow.

你的確非常努力，而公司的盈虧狀況也因此更好。我明天會答覆你。

 

A: I appreciate you giving it some thought.

謝謝你願意考慮。

 

＊最後，記著千萬別下最後通牒（Don't use ultimatum.）。

千萬別說 “If you don't give me a raise, I'm out of here.”（如果你不給我加薪，我現在就離職）啊！
