Part 2：「談辦公室文化」模擬情景

 

 

第一天上班的Candy與同事Vivian和Jessica一起到外面吃午餐，並順便詢問公司的辦公室文化：

 

(C: Candy     V: Vivian      J: Jessica)

 

C: So, is there anything I should know about the company culture? Any special do's or don'ts? 

那麼，關於公司文化有甚麼是我該知道的嗎？有甚麼特別該做或不該做的嗎？

 

V: I can offer one piece of advice for avoiding dirty looks: don't monopolize霸佔 the hot water in the morning.

我可以提供避免被提臭臉的忠告：別在早上霸佔熱水壺。

 

J: Some people load up these huge thermoses保溫瓶, leaving a sad trickle滴 of hot water for the rest of us.

有些人會用超大保溫瓶裝熱水，讓剩下的我們只有幾滴熱水。

 

C: Oh no! I bet people get cranky不耐煩 without their morning dose of caffeine咖啡因.  I can sympathize!

不會吧！我打賭有人早上若沒來點咖啡因會很不耐煩的。我理解！

 

V: It's just thinking about other people and cleaning up after yourself. You know, normal grown-up 成年人stuff.

這只是替別人著想和為自己善後。你曉得的，就正常成年人該做的事。

 

J: Also, some people get really testy 煩躁的；易怒的 if you use the photocopier at lunch when they're trying to nap. 

還有，午餐時間有些人會打算小睡一下的，如果你在這個時候使用影印機，他們會很煩躁。

 

C: Oh, this is a napping office? I love putting my head down for a mid-day snooze小睡. 

辦公室的人會午睡啊？太棒了！我超愛在中午時趴下來小睡一會。
