　　 ‘There are some pain points.’是甚麼意思？'Heads up'又解作甚麼？

1. Pain points

“Pain points”的字面意思=「痛點」

“Pain points” 的實際意思=「所遇到的特定問題」

 

● These are common pain points for most corporations.

這是多數企業都會遇到的困境。

 

● Can you tell me what the pain points in your department are?

你能告訴我你所屬的部門的問題是甚麼嗎？

 

● Our goal is to create solutions to overcome current customer pain points. 

我們的目標是創建解決方案，以克服當前客戶所遇到的問題。

 

● There are some pain points that need to be addressed.

我們有一些難題需要解決。

 

2. Stay afloat

“Stay afloat” 的字面意思=「保持浮起來」

“Stay afloat” 的實際意思=「繼續生存下去 / 維持生計 / 有足夠的錢償還欠款」。當公司處於風險之中或市場特別不利時，要生存下去實在是一件不易事。

 

● Luckily, the firm managed to stay afloat during the recession.

幸運地，在經濟衰退期間，公司設法度過了難關。

 

● Our firm is seeking new opportunities to stay afloat amid（在……之中/期間） COVID-19 pandemic. 

在疫情期間，我們的公司正尋求新的生存機會。

 

● I hope that the ABC Company can stay afloat during the great depression. 

我希望ABC公司能夠在大蕭條期間繼續生存下去。

 

3. Heads up

 

“Heads up” 的字面意思=「把頭抬起來」

“Heads up” 的實際意思=為了「通知」(to inform)對方要注意某事或用來「警告」 (to warn)對方某件事情。它比較常見的用法就是 “give somebody a heads-up (n.)” 這個搭配。

 

● He gave us a heads-up that the deal might be off.

他警告我們這次交易可能會取消。

 

● I’d like to give you a heads-up that Mr. Chan will be arriving tomorrow.

我想提醒你陳先生明天將會到來。

 

● Heads up, everyone! The VP is coming from Japan today and he’ll expect to see the office in perfect state.

大家請留意， 副總裁(Vice President)今天將會從日本回來。他希望看到辦公室處於的完美狀態。

 

4. Up in the air

“Up in the air” 的字面意思=「懸在空中」

“Up in the air” 的實際意思= 「懸而未決」、「尚未決定」

如果你聽到人說The plan is still up in the air，意思就是「懸而未決」、計劃還沒有確定。

 

● The whole future of the project is still up in the air.

該項目的去向仍不得而知。

 

● As there are too many things up in the air at the minute, we haven’t signed the contract yet.

由於此刻有太多事情要進行，所以我們尚未簽訂合同。

 

● Experts see promise in COVID-19 vaccine research, but timing is still up in the air.
