How do we come up with this design:

 

　　At first, while we were finding problems in the Middle West district, we suddenly found out that the refuse chute design in Hong Kong has caused some deaths. And the Middle West district has a lot of old buildings with these refuse chute. When the cleaners trying to clean up the mess in the refuse chute, they fell down due to disequilibrium. Also it causes  a lots of problems such as  rubbish bags to break open and split out many rubbish and wasted liquid. If the bags didn't break open, the cleaners wouldn't need to climb into the refuse chute and clean the mess. And a lots of death will be reduced.

 

　　After we understand the problems of the refuse chute design, we started to suggest some new designs for it. Using a slide is our first suggestion. However, building a slide to carry the rubbish to the ground is too big for a building and the rubbish bags may still break open due to friction between the slide and the bags. After a lot of discussion, we agreed that adding a plane is a good idea to carry the rubbish because it can transfer the bags to the garbage truck smoothly and it is easier to build and  clean. Cleaners won't need to climb into the refuse chute to clean anyone. They just need to clean the plane on the ground floor and it's not dangerous. Therefore, we started an in-depth study on this design. Right up to the present, we have  a lots of improvement on the design such as: The plane will move once only every day, or our whole design will be similar as an elevator and required people to use their foot to press the button and open the door to put their rubbish into the refuse chute, etc.

 

　　In summary, we are confident that our design can actually applied to our daily life.   We hope everyone can support us!
