[ET Net News Agency, 18 October 2021] Half trading-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$71.39 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$9.88 billion, or 13.83% of the
market's turnover. There were 704 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and TRACKER FUND
(02800) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$880.59 million and HK$830.64
million, or 8.92% and 8.41% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 16.41% and 47.38% of respective stock's turnover.
BABA-SW (09988) and MEITUAN-W (03690) registered HK$557.09 million and HK$542.68 million
of short sales, accounting for 5.64% and 5.5% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 33.53% and 17.91% of respective stock's
turnover.
TENCENT closed down HK$5.4, or 1.09%, to HK$490.2. TRACKER FUND ended down HK$0.08, or
0.31%, to HK$25.9. BABA-SW fell HK$0.9, or 0.56% to HK$160.9. MEITUAN-W declined by
HK$5, or 1.78%, to HK$275.8.
