立法會選舉2016，多位政壇老將退下火線，面對政壇新勢力掘起，立法會有機會出現一片新景象。不過，在正式開戰前，「選戰」早在7月提名期時已揭幕，選舉主任擔當了「防獨」先鋒，數名參選人因「港獨」或不簽擁護《基木法》確認書而被取消資格。然而，扣除「被消失」的候選人後，最終地區直選及功能組別的參選人士仍有289名之多，當中包括傳統建制泛民，也有多個政壇新勢力，可謂百家爭鳴。
扣除12名自動當選的功能界別後，誰能問鼎餘下的58席位呢？9月4日投票日就知分曉。
新界西9個議席有結果，勝出者分別是尹兆堅、鄭松泰、田北辰、何君堯、梁志祥、郭家麒、麥美娟、陳恆鑌及朱凱迪。現任議員李卓人及馮檢基落敗，未能成功連任。
立法會選舉第一個地方選區九龍西公布正式結果。九龍西共有6席，分別由毛孟靜、梁美芬、黃碧雲、蔣麗芸、劉小麗及游蕙禎奪得，現任立法會議員黃毓民落敗。
