一個成功的presentation不但具有感染力，甚至能達到影響他人的效果。許多人都以為一個演講的成敗全取決於演講的內容有多精彩，其實非也。演講內容的深度固然重要，但上文下理之間的連貫性同樣不能忽視！缺乏連貫性的演講，不但令演講內容予人鬆散、欠缺關連性的感覺，甚至會影響聽眾對內容重點的理解。要讓演講內容結構更緊密？此時，「轉換話題」慣用語擔當不可或缺的角色——有效地標示出話題或重點之間的關係。演說時，若要明確轉換話題，可以用一些「慣用語句」來表達。慣用語通常包含前、後兩個話題的關鍵詞，而且在使用時必須說明「之前所講的東西是甚麼」，以及「接著要講的東西是甚麼」。
請看以下例子：
Now that I have talked about our missions, let me move on to (talk about) our brand story.
既然我已經說了我們公司的使命，那麼讓我接下去講我們的品牌故事。
