HK$154.17 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$25.21 billion, or 16.36% of the
market's turnover. There were 740 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and BABA-SW
(09988) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$2.28 billion and HK$1.38
billion, or 9.06% and 5.48% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 18.01% and 17.73% of respective stock's turnover.
HSCEI ETF (02828) and AIA (01299) registered HK$1.04 billion and HK$1.01 billion of
short sales, accounting for 4.11% and 4.02% of the total short sales values respectively.
The transactions represented 78.24% and 32.54% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$3.2, or 0.68%, to HK$474.8. BABA-SW ended down HK$4.4, or 3.35%, to
HK$127.1. HSCEI ETF rose HK$0.3, or 0.34% to HK$89. AIA jumped HK$0.1, or 0.11%, to
HK$88.8.
