[ET Net News Agency, 18 April 2024] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$52.12
billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$8.99 billion, or 17.25% of the market's
turnover. There were 631 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and MEITUAN-W (03690) saw
higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$976.8 million and HK$435.04 million, or
10.87% and 4.84% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented
32.46% and 34.29% of respective stock's turnover.
CCB (00939) and BANK OF CHINA (03988) registered HK$387.83 million and HK$325.85 million
of short sales, accounting for 4.31% and 3.62% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 35.07% and 33.95% of respective stock's
turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$7, or 2.33%, to HK$307.8. MEITUAN-W ended flat, to HK$97.55. CCB
rose HK$0.11, or 2.3% to HK$4.89. BANK OF CHINA jumped HK$0.07, or 2.13%, to HK$3.35.
