billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$17.63 billion, or 18.5% of the market's
turnover. There were 669 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and MEITUAN-W (03690) saw
higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.66 billion and HK$874.33 million, or
9.41% and 4.96% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented
28.5% and 35.39% of respective stock's turnover.
CCB (00939) and ICBC (01398) registered HK$693.9 million and HK$679.74 million of short
sales, accounting for 3.94% and 3.86% of the total short sales values respectively. The
transactions represented 30.55% and 39.55% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$3.6, or 1.2%, to HK$304.4. MEITUAN-W ended up HK$0.2, or 0.2%, to
HK$97.75. CCB rose HK$0.08, or 1.67% to HK$4.86. ICBC jumped HK$0.09, or 2.24%, to
HK$4.11.
