　　飛機上面有來自世界各地的人，英文通常會是大家互相溝通的共同語言。相信好多人都有過在飛機上遇到不滿的事但又不懂得用英文表達的經驗，結果總是因為有口難言而忍到一肚氣。坐飛機出差，當你前面的乘客椅背太往後時，如何用英文跟對方說？在機上如果感到頭暈不適，如何用英文求助？本週，筆者要教大家一些飛機上常用到的空中英文會話，像是請空服人員提供毛氈、告知空服人員身體不適、以及跟周遭乘客溝通、交流的一些基本語句。

　　以下，筆者為大家綜合了在飛機上常遇到的8大情境會用到的英語：

【Situation 1】請空服人員提供毛毯

　　喺飛機上覺得有啲凍，然後問空姐： ‘Could I take a blanket？’的話，估計空姐會一臉尷尬。這時候，你可能會心想：「唔通廉價航空唔會提供毛氈？」不，其實 ‘Could I take a blanket’會令人誤會「你想免費索取一張毛氈帶回家」，對方當然會尷尬拒絶啦！所以，記得將動詞take改成have或get避免產生誤會喇！

（X） Could I take a blanket？

（O） Could I have a blanket？

　　例：I'm feeling a bit cold. Could I have a blanket？（我覺得有點冷，可否給我一張毛氈？）

【Situation 2】請空服人員小心拿取行李

（X） Be careful of this luggage.

（O） Be careful with this luggage.

　　說明：用"be careful of"這個片語，聽起來像是在說「這件行李很危險，要小心」，這恐怕讓空服人員聽完之後感到驚慌！所以，記得將介系詞（preposition）改成 ‘with’，才能準確表達「小心拿取」的意思。

　　例：Please be careful with this luggage .There’s a laptop in it.（請小心拿這件行李，裡面有手提電腦。）

【Situation 3】詢問該怎麼操作飛機上遙控器

（X） Please teach me how to use this remote control.

（O） Please show me how to use this remote control.

　　英文的 ‘teach’意味著「花一段時間仔細教導」的意思，然而，對方恐怕沒有那麼多時間教導你使用遙控器！如果只是要對方大概指導一下遙控器操作步驟的話，用 ‘show’即可。

【Situation 4】在飛機上身體不適

　　在機上如果「暈飛機浪」，想向空服人員尋求協助，你可以這樣說：

　　‘ I don’t feel very well, I have motion sickness.’

　　我感覺不舒服，我暈機了

　　 如果你胃痛或是胸部悶痛時…

　　‘I have a stomachache / chest tightness.’

　　我胃痛 / 胸悶

【Situation 5】當你想要跟認識的人坐在一起時…

　　‘Excuse me sir / madam, I would like to seat with my colleague, would you mind changing seats with me?’

　　不好意思先生／女士，我想要跟我同事坐一起，如果您不介意的話能跟我換位子嗎？

【Situation 6】當你想要其他乘 關掉閱讀燈時…

　　‘Excuse me, would you mind if I turn the reading light off?’

　　不好意思，靖請問介意把閱讀燈關掉嗎？

【Situation 7】當你坐最內側，想要請旁邊乘客讓你去洗手間時…

　　‘Excuse me sir / madam, may I go to toilet please?’

　　先生不好意思，可以借我過去一下廁所嗎？

【Situation 8】當你前面的乘客椅背太往後時…

　　‘Excuse me sir / madam, you reclining your seat a bit too far. Do you mind moving it forward a little bit, please?’

　　不好意思先生/女士，你椅背太往後了，如果你不介意的話可以調整一下嗎？

　　＊在飛機上會遇到不同國籍、不同性格的人，長途機上，不妨試試跟旁邊的陌生人聊聊天，不僅可以練習英文，也許還能擴闊社交圈子呢。

　　如果想讓自己說起英語來能更像母語者，就必須提升productive skills，加強自我的寫作與口語能力，而朝住此目標必不可忽略的一環就是搭配字詞（collocations）。我們先重溫一次搭配字詞（collocations）的定義吧！根據牛津線上辭典的詞條釋義，"collocations"在語言學領域中，是指「該語言中經常出現的單詞組合」。

　　正確使用搭配字詞尤其重要，不但有助於單字量的增加，更有助於我們的口語、閱讀能力及聽力的理解。說了那麼多，相信大家都已經知道搭配字詞的重要性了吧？本周，我們一於來說說商界常見的「名詞+名詞」詞組吧！準備好筆記本記下重點了嗎？Ready, go!

1. Price war（價格戰；減價戰）

Example 1：

The mortgage（按揭） price war further intensified（加劇）in July.

七月份的按揭貸款市場減價戰進一步加劇。

Example 2：

The two companies are cutting each other's throats with these price wars.

那兩家公司正在減價戰之中互相殘殺。

2. Customer base （客戶群）

Example 1：

We will notify our customer base of our new products.

我們會向顧客群告知我的新產品。

Example 2：

A solid （穩固的）customer base has been built up over the months.

幾個月來，我們已經建立了穩固的顧客群。

3. Sales figures（銷售額；銷售數據）

Example：

This year 's sales figures are very encouraging.

今年的銷售額非常令人鼓舞。

4. Business model（商業模式）

Example：

Do you believe there's a need for a new business model？

你是否相信這裏需要一種新的商業模式？

5. Product launch（產品發佈）

Example 1：

We need to finalize the next product launch.

我們需要確定新產品的推出。

Example 2：

This helps to assure reliable and robust （強大的；健全的）product launches.

這有助於推出可靠和健全的產品。

6. Market leader（市場領導者）

Example：

We aspire to be a market leader in the industry.

我們渴望成為該行業的市場領導者。

7. Market forces（市場力量）

Example：

Driven by market forces, our economy has undergone a remarkable （顯著的）transformation （變化）over the past 20 years.

在市場力量推動下，我們的經濟在過去二十年經歷顯著蛻變。

8. Accounting firm（會計公司）

Example：

A certified accounting firm declares that the figures and statements about the finances are accurate.

一家認證的會計師事務所宣稱有關的財務數字和陳述皆準確。

9. Bank draft（銀行匯票）

Example：

Handling fee will be charged by banks for bank draft application.

申請銀行本票需向銀行支付手續費。

10. Budget cut（削減預算）

Example 1：

Enclosed please find a copy of the minutes from the department meeting on budget cuts.

隨函附上有關削減預算的部門會議記錄。

Example 2：

While every sector in the community was facing stringent （嚴峻的）financial situations over the past few years, it was considered that budget cut was inevitable（不可避免的）.

在過去的幾年中，社區中的每個部門都面臨著嚴峻的財務狀況，因此，削減預算是不可避免的。
