Citi issued a research report yesterday, stating that according to industry sources, Macau's gaming revenue for the first 20 days of September is expected to reach approximately MOP1.22 billion. The average daily gaming revenue last week was around MOP614 million, up 5% compared to approximately MOP586 million in the week starting September 7, and also up 1% compared to the average daily revenue of around MOP610 million in September 2025.
The brokerage noted that according to industry sources, VIP segment turnover declined month-on-month by about 15% to 18%, while mass-market gaming revenue fell by about 13% to 16% month-on-month. Last week's VIP win rate appeared higher than the week starting September 7. The bank maintains its unchanged gaming revenue forecast for September 2026 at MOP18 billion, down 2% year-on-year, implying an average daily gaming revenue of about MOP580 million for the remainder of September.
The bank expects multiple major events and concerts in October, including Rene Liu, Zhang Liangying, Korean boy band Enhypen, and Richie Jen at Galaxy Arena; Sara Landry's "Chapter One" at Londoner Arena; NBA China Games at Venetian Arena; and Jonathan Lee at MGM Cotai, which could help reignite recovery in gaming revenue.
Currently, the Hang Seng Index stands at 24,853, down 234 points or 0.9%, with main board turnover exceeding HK$128 billion. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index is at 8,286, down 75 points or 0.9%. The Hang Seng Tech Index is at 4,376, down 61 points or 1.4%. (vs)
