Interest rate markets indicate the likelihood of the Fed raising rates by 25 basis points in October has surged from 55.4% a day earlier to over 68%. The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield once again rose above the 5% level, reaching a high of 5.139%, while the U.S. 30-year fixed mortgage rate increased by 15 basis points to 7.12%, a more than two-year high. The U.S. Dollar Index rose as much as 0.63%, reaching 101.23. Overnight, spot gold prices dropped as much as 1.91%, falling to a low of $4275.13 per ounce.
During Asian trading hours, gold prices remain below $4300, currently trading at $4295.70 per ounce, up slightly by 0.19%.
Currently, the Hang Seng Index stands at 24,747, down 86 points or 0.3%, with main board turnover exceeding HK$10.6 billion. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index is at 8,251, down 22 points or 0.3%. The Hang Seng Tech Index is at 4,352, down 26 points or 0.6%. (vs)
