Asia Pacific Resources announced that for the year ended June 30, net profit was approximately HK$1.71 billion, earnings per share of HK$1.1735, a sixfold increase, with an interim dividend of 12 cents per share and a special interim dividend of 8 cents per share, replacing the final dividend, making a total distribution of 20 cents.
Revenue for the period rose to HK$740 million, proceeds from disposal of resource investments increased to approximately HK$5.74 billion, and other income rose to HK$1.42 billion. The group stated that the increase in profit was mainly due to strong performance in the resource investment segment, segment profit rising to approximately HK$1.17 billion, net reversal of impairment of equity-accounted investees of approximately HK$245 million, share of results of equity-accounted investees of HK$260 million, and profit from the commodities business segment of HK$663.31 million.
Currently, the Hang Seng Index stands at 24,649, down 184 points or 0.7%, with turnover of nearly HK$2.2 billion on the main board. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index stands at 8,215, down 58 points or 0.7%. The Hang Seng Tech Index stands at 4,344, down 34 points or 0.8%. (vs)
