SSE Composite Index closed down 1.67%, three major indices declined throughout the day, CPO concept plunged

The Economic Information Daily reported on the 28th: Ahead of the National Day holiday, the A-share market suffered a heavy blow today, with all three major indices opening low and continuing to decline. The SSE Composite Index closed down 1.67% at 3,823.62 points, the Shenzhen Component Index fell 3.44%, and the ChiNext Index dropped 4.53%. Total trading volume for the two markets reached 1.7 trillion yuan (RMB, same below), an increase of 49.5 billion yuan or 3% compared to the previous trading day.

Most sectors in the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets performed weakly today. The CPO concept plunged sharply, with over ten individual stocks hitting the daily trading limit down. Zhongji Xuchuang (Shenzhen: 300308), a leading CPO stock, nearly hit the daily limit down. MLCC and PCB concepts also ranked among the worst performers, with Fenghua Advanced Technology (Shenzhen: 000636) and Jiangnan New Materials (Shanghai: 603124) hitting the daily limit down. In addition, the precious metals sector declined, with Shandong Gold (Shanghai: 600547) hitting the daily limit down. Spot gold fell below 4,200 dollars per ounce, the first time since August 5, with an intraday decline of nearly 2.5%. Spot silver dropped over 4%, with an intraday decline exceeding 2 dollars.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and six other departments jointly issued the "15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the New Battery Industry," proposing that by 2030, the new battery industry will achieve steady growth in scale, significant progress in the research and development of new system batteries, and initial large-scale application of all-solid-state batteries. The plan aims to cultivate leading enterprises in the new battery field, support corporate mergers and acquisitions, strengthen the backbone force composed of high-tech enterprises and specialized, refined, unique, and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, and reinforce the core strength formed by specialized, refined, unique, and innovative "little giant" enterprises and manufacturing champion enterprises. However, the battery concept followed the broader market decline.

On the upside, geopolitical conflicts pushed up international oil prices, lifting the oil sector. The automobile manufacturing sector saw unusual upward movements, with Jianghuai Automobile (Shanghai: 600418) hitting the daily limit up again today. There are reports that Jianghuai Automobile will cooperate with Stellantis and Huawei, and market expectations suggest Jianghuai Automobile may take on contract manufacturing for luxury brand electric vehicles.
