SpaceX Starship Successfully Reaches Orbit for the First Time, Deploys 26 Satellites, but Explodes Upon Returning to Earth
ETNET NEWS AGENCY reported on the 29th: SpaceX (US.SPCX)'s 'Starship' launched on Monday (28th) from the Starbase facility in Texas, U.S., commencing its 14th integrated flight test. This mission achieved a significant breakthrough as Starship successfully entered Earth orbit for the first time and deployed 26 next-generation Starlink V3 satellites at an altitude of approximately 269 kilometers, marking Starship's transition from previous suborbital tests to actually executing orbital missions.
However, during the flight, one of the engines was detected to have shut down unexpectedly, forcing the originally planned 6-orbit, 10-hour mission to be shortened to about 3 hours, ending prematurely.
Starship subsequently re-entered Earth's atmosphere, successfully executed a flip maneuver, and completed a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. However, the spacecraft exploded immediately upon contact with water, creating a massive fireball. SpaceX currently has no plans to recover the spacecraft, with future hopes of achieving reuse on land in Texas. (rc)
