EDN Communications (April 29) - Nvidia (US.NVDA) unveiled a set of AI agent-oriented software security tools on Monday (28th). The company stated that if these tools had been used earlier, "they could have prevented the AI code platform Hugging Face from being breached."
The security tool, named "OpenShell," leverages hardware capabilities on Nvidia's central processing unit (CPU) chips to isolate and restrict agents. Nvidia said it is collaborating with ARM and Intel to ensure the system can also operate on processors from these two companies.
Nvidia previously acquired Hugging Face for $13 billion several months after Hugging Face suffered a large-scale attack by runaway AI agents from OpenAI. Nvidia is launching these AI security tools together with dozens of partners, including Anthropic. (rc)
