In April this year, Disney had already cut about 1,000 positions, affecting marketing departments and other business segments including film and television operations, ESPN, products and technology divisions, as well as some corporate functional units.
The company also conducted layoffs last year, involving hundreds of employees in film and television marketing, television promotion, and casting and development departments.
Since Josh D'Amaro took over as CEO in March, Disney has seen several senior management changes, including the appointment of Paul Roeder, a 25-year veteran of the company, as Chief Communications Officer.
As of the end of the fiscal year 2025, Disney had approximately 231,000 employees, with about 172,000 working in the United States and 59,000 overseas. (rc)
