Speaking at OpenAI's annual conference on Tuesday (29th) in San Francisco, USA, he said: "This is the true AI version we've always envisioned for ourselves. Dots is like an AI assistant that's always supporting and taking care of you in the background, inspired by the cool images we've seen in movies throughout our lives."
OpenAI positions its "always-on" AI agents not merely as tools for booking dinner reservations or scheduling appointments. The tool is designed to proactively take on personal matters and work tasks.
Analysts note that Dots represents OpenAI's response to the current AI agent trend. Such AI agents aim to make users' lives easier by handling tasks like scheduling and unsubscribing. Meta's (US.META) agent named Muse, launched earlier this month, triggered a wave of public attention, with its stock price rising 25% over the past month.
OpenAI's current release of the feature remains limited. Users can currently only have one Dot agent, although the company plans to open up permissions for agent teams in the future. (rc)
