IMF Spokesperson: Economic Impact of US-Iran Conflict on Fragile Countries Raises Concerns

HONG KONG, Feb. 2 (Economic News Agency) Julie Kozak, spokesperson for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), stated that the impact of the US-Iran conflict on the global economy extends beyond countries with limited policy buffers and net energy importers, raising concerns about those countries not yet integrated into the artificial intelligence (AI) supply chain and thus unable to benefit from the associated growth dividends.

Kozak pointed out that some countries are not benefiting from the AI investment boom, are severely affected by energy shocks, and have limited policy buffers. She noted that most of these countries are low-income and fragile nations, which is particularly concerning. She added that some of these countries have already reached assistance arrangements with the IMF, and the IMF is closely collaborating with them. (yc)
