Among the 22 bond markets tracked by Yardeni, the 10-year yield in six markets has risen by 100 basis points or more this year, with France rising the most at 131 basis points. The United States follows with a 112 basis point increase, along with Italy, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea.
The company's president and chief investment strategist, Ed Yardeni, said in a report that stronger economic growth is a key factor driving global bond yields higher, except in markets where government fiscal conditions are weakest.
In these markets, bond investors are demanding higher fiscal risk premiums, 'France may be on the brink of a full-blown debt crisis.' (rc)
