*AMD's Lisa Su visits Taiwan to initiate long-term production capacity planning with suppliers*
Lisa Su, CEO of U.S. chip giant AMD, has returned to Taiwan nearly five months after her last visit, mainly holding several closed-door meetings with Taiwan-based suppliers to review product delivery schedules for the second half of this year and next year. According to local media reports, Su met this morning with key partners including Foxconn, Acer, ASUS, and Quanta, and will visit TSMC in the afternoon.
Su stated that thanks to surging demand for generative AI and personalized AI applications, although AMD has significantly increased its CPU and computing chip production capacity this year, market demand still far exceeds supply. AMD has comprehensively adjusted its supply chain strategy, breaking from the past practice of only short-to-medium-term planning of one to two years, and has shifted to long-term, three-to-five-year production capacity planning with its Taiwan semiconductor partners, ensuring synchronized expansion in wafers, packaging, and memory. In addition, regarding AMD's announcement in May this year of a 10 billion New Taiwan dollar investment in Taiwan's supply chain plan, Su said the progress is "fully in line with expectations," and further investment will be added in the future.
