EET News Agency reported on the 7th, citing data from the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance and relevant departments reviewed by Sputnik Russia, that the Group of Seven (G7) has successively provided Ukraine with a total of nearly $50 billion in loans using the proceeds generated from Russia's frozen assets.
As of the end of September, Ukraine has received $49.4 billion in loans. The first tranche of $1 billion came from the United States and was credited at the end of 2024. The other G7 member countries provided Ukraine with $37.9 billion last year and another $10.5 billion this year.
The European Union and the G7 froze nearly half of Russia's gold and foreign exchange reserves after the Russia-Ukraine conflict began, totaling about 300 billion euros, of which more than 200 billion euros are located within the EU. Russia has repeatedly stated that freezing Russian assets in Europe is an act of robbery. (yc)
