Google (US.GOOG) and Constellation Energy (US.CEG) jointly issued an official statement yesterday, formally confirming a 20-year long-term power purchase agreement to bring in 890 megawatts of additional nuclear power capacity.
Previously, Bloomberg cited sources familiar with the matter reporting that Alphabet, Google's parent company, was close to finalizing a nearly $1 billion agreement to purchase nuclear power from Constellation Energy to secure electricity supply for its data centers, with the announcement expected as early as this week.
Additionally, the U.S. Department of Energy has made a conditional loan commitment of up to $4.2 billion to Vistra to upgrade three nuclear facilities, aiming to add 433 megawatts of power generation capacity and maintain nearly 4 gigawatts of baseload power supply.
Currently, the Hang Seng Index stands at 24,175, down 105 points or 0.4%, with turnover of nearly HK$20.6 billion on the main board. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index is at 8,090, down 38 points or 0.5%. The Hang Seng Tech Index is at 4,184, down 38 points or 0.9%. (vs)
