HSBC slightly declines, reports say wealth management division in UK cutting staff, financial advisors reduced by nearly 70%

  {Economic Information Daily News 7th exclusive} HSBC (00005) is currently down 0.5%, trading at HK$152.1. The stock has traded approximately 1.96 million shares, amounting to HK$297 million, with a high of HK$152.7 and a low of HK$151.6.

  According to overseas media citing sources, HSBC plans to cut staff in its UK wealth management business, significantly reducing the number of financial advisors and other professionals, in an effort to enhance services for high-net-worth clients using AI.

  The report indicates that the layoffs at HSBC span various departments within its UK wealth management operations. Around half of the management and professional positions in this business are expected to be eliminated, with financial advisor cuts reaching nearly 70%.

  Currently, the Hang Seng Index stands at 24,138, down 142 points or 0.6%, with turnover of nearly HK$56 billion on the main board. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index is at 8,072, down 56 points or 0.7%. The Hang Seng Tech Index is at 4,183, down 40 points or 0.9%. (vs)
