Takayasu Sanae: If Japan's government bond yield fluctuates, fiscal situation will be re-evaluated

Takayasu Sanae, Japan's Prime Minister, said on Wednesday during a parliamentary inquiry session that if Japan's government bond yields experience unexpected fluctuations, the government will re-evaluate its revenue and expenditure plans as necessary.

She stated that considering both effectiveness and timeliness, reducing consumption tax on food items combined with cash subsidies is currently the most suitable economic policy. When compiling the budget, the government will clearly define subsidy details, including funding sources. In addition, the government will flexibly use reserve funds to respond to various external shocks. However, the government will not comment on specific yield or exchange rate levels. (rc)
