New York Fed: U.S. one-year inflation expectations rise to 3.9%, highest level in over three years

    HONG KONG ECONOMIC JOURNAL FINANCIAL NEWS SERVICE, 8th: The Federal Reserve Bank of New York released its September consumer expectations survey, showing the median one-year inflation expectation rose from 3.6% in August to 3.9%, the highest since May 2023, reflecting heightened household concerns about future price pressures.

    The survey showed that the three-year inflation expectation increased from 3.2% to 3.3%, while the five-year expectation remained unchanged at 3%. Households' expected growth in spending over the next year also rose to 5.5%, the highest level since May 2023. (yc)
