Samsung Electronics is one of the world's leading suppliers of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) semiconductors. Counterpoint Research has raised its forecast for the sequential price increase of DRAM (dynamic random access memory) in the third quarter from the previous 5% to 10% to 10% to 20%, citing that customers are placing orders earlier and suppliers' pricing power is strengthening.
Sanjeev Rana, Head of North Asia Semiconductor Research at CLSA Securities Korea, said, 'We remain bullish on the memory cycle and Samsung; demand continues to outstrip supply, and HBM prices are expected to rise significantly by 2027.'
Neil Shah, Vice President of Research at Counterpoint, said, 'Samsung's current valuation is clearly undervalued. Next year, they still have many cards to play in the HBM field, and the related effects have not yet fully materialized.'
Samsung will release its complete financial statements on October 29. (yc)
