Three oil giants rise together with Sinopec surging 4%; Iran could face further打击 before U.S. midterm elections

The Economic Information Agency reported on the 8th that the three major oil companies rose together, with Sinopec (00386) up 3.6%, trading at HK$4.58, marking its fourth consecutive day of gains with a cumulative increase of 5.2%; PetroChina (00857) rose 2.7%, trading at HK$9.845; CNOOC (00883) gained 3.4%, trading at HK$24.32, marking its third consecutive day of gains with a cumulative increase of 3.8%.

According to Xinhua News Agency, U.S. President Trump previously stated publicly that military action against Iran needs to be concluded. The Atlantic, citing two U.S. government officials, reported that the White House has already requested the U.S. Department of Defense to develop plans for striking Iran, and indicated that military action could be implemented before the U.S. midterm elections, contrary to outside expectations that Trump would avoid escalating conflict with Iran before the midterms.

Currently, New York crude oil futures are trading at USD 89.63 per barrel, while Brent crude oil prices edged higher, currently trading at USD 102.02 per barrel.

At present, the Hang Seng Index stands at 24,063, down 66 points or 0.3%, with main board turnover exceeding HK$62.4 billion. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index stands at 8,109, up 27 points or 0.3%. The Hang Seng Tech Index stands at 4,143, down 51 points or 1.2%. (am)
