JAC Motors hits limit-down as three Jiaye V800 new vehicles reportedly suffer brake pedal bracket fractures during testing

Jingjietong News Agency, Special Report on the 8th: According to Sina Finance, on the first trading day after the National Day holiday, a test video has drawn attention in the automotive industry. Autohome released a video claiming that during real-world testing, three brand-new Jiaye V800 vehicles underwent emergency braking tests from 100km/h to 0. During the second to fourth hard braking attempts, the brake pedal brackets of all three vehicles suffered physical fractures. After the fracture, the pedal detached and disappeared from underfoot, completely eliminating the vehicle's foot braking capability, leaving only the P-gear emergency braking available. The braking distance surged from the normal level of approximately 38 meters to around 140 meters. The force reading at the time of fracture was about 1612N, while the typical design load capacity for such brackets in luxury vehicles within the industry exceeds 2700N, and the national standard requires the pedal to withstand 2000N for 5 seconds.

After the news spread, the capital market reacted swiftly. JAC Motors (Shanghai: 600418) hit its daily trading limit-down today, closing at 24.72 yuan (RMB, same below).

The Jiaye V800 and V680 are ultra-luxury MPV models jointly developed by JAC Motors and Huawei. On August 5, 2026, both models were officially launched. The Jiaye V800 offers three configurations: Enjoy Edition, Executive Edition, and Navigation Edition, with starting prices of 766,000 yuan, 866,000 yuan, and 1,016,000 yuan respectively; the Jiaye V680 Enjoy Edition starts at 648,000 yuan. On August 31, deliveries of both models officially began.

In terms of market enthusiasm, the Jiaye V800 performed impressively during the pre-sale phase. Pre-sales opened on June 25, 2026, with orders exceeding 3,200 units within the first hour, of which the V800 accounted for as high as 84%; cumulative orders surpassed 10,000 units within 23 days of pre-sales. Within 24 hours of launch, firm orders exceeded 3,500 units, with an average market price of about 900,000 yuan.

The report points out that, however, less than two months after delivery began, serious quality issues regarding brake pedal bracket fractures have emerged. For a luxury MPV positioned in the million-yuan class, the foundation of brand trust will face a severe test. (jq)
