Akeso announced plans to place 20 million new shares to no fewer than six independent placing investors, representing about 2.13% of the enlarged issued share capital. The placement price is set at HK$97.76 per share, representing a 6.9% discount to the company's previous closing price of HK$105. The net proceeds from the placement are expected to be approximately HK$1.941 billion.
The company intends to allocate 85% of the net proceeds towards innovation R&D pipelines, platforms, and R&D infrastructure development in both global and Chinese markets. This includes clinical trials for IBI-318 (anti-PD-1/VEGF bispecific antibody) and Cadonilimab, other global multi-center clinical trials, clinical research for non-oncology products, and preclinical research and development of next-generation therapeutic technologies such as antibody-drug conjugates (ADC), T-cell engagers (TCE), small interfering RNA (siRNA), and messenger RNA (mRNA). The funds will also support the development of related infrastructure, equipment, and an in-house artificial intelligence platform.
Additionally, 5% of the net proceeds will be used for the commercialization of existing approved products, including Candonilimab, Idefvix (Ivonescimab), and autoimmune products; the remaining 10% will be allocated for general corporate purposes, including payments to suppliers, employee salaries and benefits, and general management and administrative expenses.
Akeso stated that the placement will broaden its shareholder and capital base, and the net proceeds will strengthen the group's financial position, supporting future development. Although the company completed a previous placement in September 2025 and still has some proceeds unutilized, accelerated progress in clinical pipeline development and expanded commercialization activities have created additional funding requirements.
Currently, the Hang Seng Index stands at 24,282, down 62 points or 0.3%, with main board turnover exceeding HK$1.7 billion. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index is at 8,161, down 12 points or 0.2%. The Hang Seng Tech Index is at 4,135, down less than 1 point or less than 0.1%. (nw)
