MAS unexpectedly maintains monetary policy unchanged, expects economic growth to slow

HONG KONG, Nov 14 (Economic Information Daily) -- The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced on Wednesday (14th) that it will keep the appreciation pace of its monetary policy band unchanged, while also making no adjustments to the width and central axis level of the policy band. In addition, the authority lowered its core inflation forecast range from the previous 1.5% to 2.5% to 1.5% to 2%.

The MAS stated that Singapore's economy should continue to maintain robust growth over the coming quarters, but the pace of growth will slow down afterward as the artificial intelligence boom recedes from extremely high growth rates.

The authority also indicated that core inflation is expected to decline significantly from mid-next year. (rc)
